Facebook has been adding a lot of features to its Messenger lately. Last week Facebook added a new camera interface to the app and today the company unveiled a new feature, Group Video Chat. Only two days ago, there were rumors of a new feature being tested on Messenger and today the company announced it. The update is rolling out worldwide on every platform – android, iOS as well as the desktop version of Messenger. There is one more feature that is included in this update – fun 3D masks but it is iOS only for now and coming soon to android.

One thing is to be noted, Facebook mentioned that this is one of the most requested feature of the Messenger so it should be received well across the globe. Facebook says there are more and more people using Messenger everyday and figures stand at 245 million making calls from Messenger every month and now Faceboook is providing users on Messenger to chat face-to-face with multiple people instead of just one.

Right now, “50 friends can join in and choose to just listen in and join via voice, or be on camera. Once more than 6 people are on the call, just the dominant speaker is shown to all participants”. To get started, just press the upper right video button on the group chat window and everyone in the group will be notified. You can choose to call only a few friends or call the whole group at once.
